Chats, modes and projects
Start conversations, choose a working mode and keep related work organized.
Chat or agent?
You do not need to select a separate agent mode for each chat. CogLake chooses an execution path for the request. A short answer does not by itself require a browser or working environment. A saved Agent already has its own task-oriented workflow; its instructions and resources remain separate.
Compose a request
- Choose the model in the header. Reasoning controls appear only when the selected model supports them.
- Use the attachment action to add files. Wait for upload completion before sending.
- Type @ to select available plugins or skills. Use the arrow keys, Enter and Escape to navigate or close the suggestions.
- Type / to see available modes. Plan is useful for agreeing on an approach, Deep research for broader evidence gathering, and Goal for work toward a specified outcome.
- State scope and stopping conditions in your request. A mode is not a promise of unlimited runtime or guaranteed accuracy.

Projects
Use projects to group related conversations and the context offered by that project. Confirm the active project before starting new work. Putting a chat in a project does not grant access to unrelated private chats or company sources.
Temporary chats
A temporary chat stays out of normal history and does not read or save cross-chat memories. Do not use it as your only copy of an important result: save the output before the session ends. Temporary does not mean that an external model provider has no processing or retention obligations.
Reading a response
The work log groups execution steps. Expand available reasoning or tool entries to see their displayed details; reasoning visibility depends on the model. The activity icon opens more detailed events for the current chat or agent. An answer mentioning a filename is not proof that a downloadable file was created: check the actual attached result.
Mobile use
The sidebar opens from the header icon. Long tool output and wide tables may scroll inside their own panels. If a download opens a preview instead of saving, use the device's share/download action. Reopening a conversation is safer than immediately resending a request after a connection interruption.
