Automations
Set up recurring or event-driven work and verify it before leaving it unattended.
- 1Choose a trigger
- 2Describe the task
- 3Select model and resources
- 4Run a small test
- 5Save and activate
Create your first automation
- Open Automations and create a new automation or choose a suitable starter.
- Give it a name that describes the outcome.
- Select a trigger. Start with When I run it if you want to verify the task manually first.
- Configure its task, model and available execution options.
- Open the Skills or Plugins & Tools selection dialog and enable only the installed resources needed.
- Save, perform a test with non-sensitive input and inspect the actual result.
- Activate the intended trigger and check its next run or connection state.
Saving a configuration and activating a trigger are different actions where the editor offers both. Check the displayed state instead of assuming a saved draft will execute.
Use an agent
When you configure triggered work for an existing agent, the agent keeps its own instructions and resources. Its automated runs have separate details from manual messages. See agents.
Review a run
Open the run details for status, input, actions, errors and output. Confirm that a completed run produced the expected file, message or other result. The displayed model and provider limits still apply to unattended runs.
Pause, edit and delete
Pausing a trigger prevents future execution; stop an active run separately. Review running work before changing credentials, tools or the target agent. Deleting or disabling an automation does not undo actions already performed by its previous runs.
For trigger-specific setup, see triggers. For retries and incomplete results, see task recovery.
